Language translation files can be created using Activ E-Book Compiler 4.22 and later. (See Advanced Features in the Help).
In general, a language file will only work with the exact same version of the compiler that was used to create it. However, there are a small number of exceptions were things can be made to work in other combinations. Here is a full list of the combinations which can be made to work:

Notes:- The dialog box invoked by the FILESAVEPROMPT script statement will not include PNG. Additionally, if using the unregistered version of the compiler, the 4.22 intro screen will be displayed instead of the new version 5 intro screen.
